Bangalore Metro extends metro services on New Year’s Eve for safe and convenient travel – All you need to know

As the clock ticks down to the eagerly awaited New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced a thoughtful initiative to accommodate the festive crowds. BMRCL will extend its train services on both the Purple and Green lines well after midnight on January 1, 2024.
The decision by BMRCL to extend metro services on New Year’s Eve reflects a commendable commitment to public safety and convenience.
For those traveling from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station – Majestic, the last train in all four directions will leave at 2.15 AM on January 1, allowing ample time for people to enjoy the festivities and then safely return home.
Special arrangements at Mahatma Gandhi Road metro stationAdditionally, Mahatma Gandhi Road metro station will undergo special arrangements for safety and security reasons. The station will be closed for public entry and exit from 11 pm on December 31, and metro trains will not stop at MG Road metro station during this period.
BMRCL ensuring seamless travel for commutersHowever, adjacent stations such as Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations will operate as usual. Additionally, those traveling from Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations after 11 pm can purchase a return journey paper ticket priced at Rs 50 in advance from 8 pm at any metro station. This ticket will be valid for entry only at Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations after 11 pm on December 31.
“In order to avoid overcrowding and inconvenience to fellow passengers, it is advised that commuters travelling towards Whitefield (Kadugodi) use Trinity metro station and those travelling towards Challaghatta, Nagasandra and Silk Institute use Cubbon Park metro station as both these stations are at an equal distance from MG Road metro station,” BMRCL said in a statement.
