IMD Weather Update- Chilly weather engulfs northern and central states, fog conditions likely to continue – Full forecast here

Cold-day conditions will continue to batter parts of northern and central states like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan during the next 2 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast mentioned while predicting rain showers over south peninsular India.
The fresh rainfall spell with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over extreme south Peninsular India during the next 4-5 days. Further, some parts of the plains of northwest & east India will see dense to very dense fog conditions over the next 3 days.The fog conditions will likely prevail for a few hours in the night/morning in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, east & west Rajasthan, and Bihar on January 5 and 6.Hilly regions including the Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and other northwestern states will witness dense fog conditions in isolated pockets between January 6 and 7.Meanwhile, the national capital saw a drop in maximum temperature by 7-8 degrees Celsius as cold weather conditions and dense fog gripped Delhi on Thursday. The normal maximum temperature of the city was 19.3 degrees Celsius and the normal minimum was 6.9 degrees, below the normal level, IMD stated.
Rainfall ForecastSouth Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep are likely to witness spells of light to moderate rainfall during the next 4-5 days. Further, light isolated rainfall is predicted over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh on January 5 and 6.
