Dussehra or the 10th day marks the end of the nine nights of Navratri, is celebrated in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin or Kartik. This day commemorates Lord Ram’s triumph over the malevolent King Ravana, which is why, on the evening of Dussehra, enormous effigies representing the demon king Ravana are set ablaze, symbolizing the victory of righteousness over wickedness.
