Tripura to expand integrated teacher education programme across state colleges- CM

Manik Saha, chief minister of Tripura has announced the initiation of a four-year Bsc-BEd course at NIT, Agartala, as a pilot project for aspiring teachers in the state. This Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) course, launched by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), aims to expand to several more colleges in the next academic year, according to an official statement.
In the 13th legislative assembly session on Wednesday, Saha, also the state’s Education Minister, shared details about the ongoing developments in the education sector. He addressed queries concerning District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) colleges in the state. Currently, there are seven DIET colleges in Tripura, with a new one under construction in Panisagar, North Tripura district. Plans are in place to hire additional teachers for the upcoming college, the statement mentioned.
Despite this, the newly constructed DIET building is actively utilised by the Department of Education, SCERT for implementing various programmes aimed at teaching and training in-service teachers and head teachers, as mentioned by the CM.
