India Weather Update: Delhi colder than Nainital; cold wave conditions to continue in various states – Full Forecast The northern region of the country is expected to experience a cold wave during the next two days. States like Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and isolated pockets of Rajasthan & western Uttar Pradesh to endure cold day to severe cold day conditions on January 09 and 10. Meanwhile, Delhi on Monday recorded its coldest day of the month so far as the minimum temperature dropped to 5.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average and almost the same as the hill station of Nainital, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Nainital recorded a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius, the IMD website showed. In hilly and mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura, dense fog conditions are likely to prevail for a few hours in the wee hours. Under the influence of a trough runs from the south Sri Lanka coast to north coastal Tamil Nadu in lower tropospheric levels, light to moderate rainfall at some places is likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakshadweep during the next 4-5 days. Further, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on January 09 and 10.
