Shaalaa.com, an e-learning platform, has witnessed a significant increase in female enrollment from the CBSE board. The proportion of girls utilising Shaalaa.com’s resources has surged from 46% in 2022 to 63.4% in 2023. Additionally, the platform has seen a 62% rise in the participation of girls from Maharashtra, opting for its free resources aligned with the Maharashtra state board in 2023. For the CISCE board, the shift is from 46%-62.1%, according to an official release.
These increments coincide with overall user growth trends recently observed on the platform, currently engaging more than 8,80,000 enrolled students across India. A majority of Shaalaa’s students are girls, particularly from non-metro Tier 2 and 3 cities. By providing free access to premier study materials, Shaalaa claims to have successfully fostered strong adoption among students who stand to gain the most from these e-learning platforms, the release mentioned.
“Guided by our vision of equal and enriching e-learning for all students, irrespective of geography, gender, or income levels, we aim to become India’s most relied-upon e-learning destination,” Anthony Fernandes, founder, CEO, Shaalaa.com, said.
With more than30% of traffic originating from non-metro Indian cities, Shaalaa anticipates significant growth potential by aligning offerings with regional board examination needs at appropriate reading levels. The platform is actively exploring partnerships with state education departments and publication houses to expand vernacular study materials for a broader reach. Driven by the singular focus of enhancing learning outcomes for students in every corner of India, Shaalaa.com appears poised to evolve into an impactful, inclusive e-learning ecosystem at scale, it added.
