A 33-year-old woman allegedly jumped to death along with her six-month-old daughter from the 16th floor of her apartment in Greater Noida, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in La Residentia society around midnight on Wednesday. Both the woman and the infant did not survive the fall and succumbed to injuries, police said, according to the Indian Express.
Police stated that the woman was struggling with depression, was undergoing treatment for the same, and lived with her family in the society. Her husband is employed by a private company in Noida.
Arvind Singh, SHO of Bisrakh police station, detailed that the police received information about the incident from a security guard at the residence.“A team reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Her family mentioned that the woman got married in 2021. Her brother stated that since giving birth to her daughter six months ago, she had not been in good physical health and was also suffering from depression,” said Singh.
The SHO clarified that no case has been registered in the matter and that the family has provided them with a written statement, asserting that there is no crime in the incident, and they (family) do not wish to file a case against anyone.
