The University of Bath opens its applications for its undergraduate Politics courses for the academic year 2024-25, as per the official announcement.
As per the university, the University’s Politics courses are ideal for those eager to understand the changing world and engage with ideas that push boundaries. Students enrolled for the International Relations pathway will learn about politics from a local to an international level, developing the skills to critically analyse data and current socio-political challenges – from political polarisation to climate change.
Students aiming to start in September 2024 can apply via UCAS by January 31, 2024. At the University of Bath, it further claims that the students submitting applications by this date get equal consideration. Students applying post the deadline run the risk that courses may be full. As part of the UCAS process students submit a personal statement, a teacher’s reference and other information, as explained in the official release.
Eligibility criteria:
Students taking the Higher Secondary School Certificate (12th Standard) on the CBSE and CISCE boards require an average of 80% across four subjects (excluding Physical Education and other less academic subjects), with 85% in one subject.
For BSc Politics with Economics, students will also need to grade eight in Mathematics in the 10th Standard if they are not studying it in the 12th Standard. Those taking the CBSE board will be required to take the standard maths exam. A levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma entry requirements are also available on each course page. Students can complete an International Foundation Year with the Bath’s partner organisation Bath College first if they do not expect to meet the requirements in time. Students achieving the required grades at Bath College are guaranteed progression to a University of Bath degree. International Foundation Years offered by other UK colleges and universities are also accepted on a case-by-case basis. Students studying under different boards, taking other qualifications, or unsure of subject choices for 12th Standard can contact Undergraduate Admissions to confirm requirements. Applicants must submit a personal statement with details about their relevant academic qualifications, why they want to pursue the course and outlining their future aspirations. Applicants must also meet the University of Bath’s English language requirements. Students needing to improve their English language skills first may be eligible to take a pre-sessional course to reach the required level, as outlined in the release.
Fees structure:
The Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies offers three-year courses in BSc Politics and International Relations and BSc Politics with Economics. These courses both have a four-year option with a professional placement and/or study abroad experience. Fees for Indian students starting in 2024 are £22,800 per year. Students on a placement year pay £6,330, as they still receive support from the University during this time. As tuition fees increase annually, it is recommended to budget for an increase of up to 5% for every year of the course. Tuition fees should be paid annually according to the payment terms.
