The NSE Nifty 50 advanced 29.45 points or 0.15% to 19,413.75 and the BSE Sensex gained 164.99 points or 0.25% to 65,558.89. In sectoral indices, Bank Nifty rose 25.60 points or 0.06% to 44,665.05, Nifty IT jumped 1.75%, Nifty Realty soared 1.02% while Nifty Auto fell 0.68%, Nifty Pharma tumbled 0.43%, Nifty PSU Bank tanked 2.38% and Nifty Oil & Gas plunged 1.17%. The broad market was trading positively at the all-time high level in anticipation of buoyant Q1 result and low volatility (VIX). However, a mixed start to bank earnings, coupled with ongoing concerns about domestic inflation, attracted bearish sentiment towards the latter half,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Analysts attribute today’s surge to positive global market sentiment and better-than-expected quarterly earnings from domestic companies. “Stocks like Infosys, TCS, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries are the pillars supporting the markets. The fresh rally has come even as rising inflation remains a concern. Traders should maintain some caution while taking any fresh position, although the overall undertone is still bullish,” said Rakeshh Mehta, chairman at Mehta Equities Ltd. Now the Nifty 50’s new 52-week high is 19,567 and Sensex’s all-time high is 66,064.21. Read Full Story Reliance Industries’ open futures and options contracts for the months of July, August and September will expire on 19 July as a result of the demerger of Jio Financial from billionaire Mukesh Ambani led-RIL. The demerger is set to occur on the record date of 20 July. “All existing contracts with expiry dates July 27, 2023, August 31, 2023 and September 28, 2023, will expire on July 19, 2023. The methodology of settlement shall be separately intimated by respective Clearing Corporations,” said the National Stock Exchange, in a circular. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) share price jumped 1.62% to Rs 3314.05 today after the IT major reported a 16.8% on-year rise in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2023, driven by strong growth in total contract value (TCV) deal wins despite a tough business environment. The company reported a nearly 8% on-year rise in consolidated net profit for the June quarter to Rs 3,534 crore. Consolidated revenue grew 12% on-year to Rs 26,296 crore. The board has recommended an interim dividend of Rs 10 a share. The company has fixed the record date as July 20 for the dividend payment. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has again revised the expiry day of futures and options (F&O) contracts for Bank Nifty and Nifty Midcap Select. Now the Bank Nifty weekly F&O contracts will expire on Wednesday instead of Thursday. There’s no change in the monthly and quarterly expiry days; these contracts will expire on the last Thursday of every month. Meanwhile, Nifty Midcap Select contracts will now expire on Monday instead of Wednesday. The monthly contracts will expire on the last Monday of the respective contract month.
