Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station on December 30. It is renamed as Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station. The Phase-I of the redeveloped station — Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station — has been completed at a cost of more than Rs 240 crore. PM Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and others. Vaishnaw said that it has been constructed in alignment with the nation’s culture and tradition. Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Vaishnaw highlighted the ongoing development of railway stations and infrastructure in Ayodhya, with the Ayodhya Dham station reflecting the cultural ethos of the country.Ayodhya Dham Junction is illuminated (PTI Photo)
The Minister noted several new features in the station revamp, including the spacious holding area and the construction of a 100-foot roof plaza. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station.

— Financial Express (@FinancialXpress) December 30, 2023Airport-like featuresThe Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 240 crore, features a modern three-storey building equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including lifts, escalators, food plazas, and child care rooms. The station is designed to be ‘accessible for all’ and has received certification as a green station building from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Importantly, the development aligns with the broader vision for Ayodhya beyond the railway station.
Ayodhya Railway Station (PTI Photo)The Northern Railway reported that the construction of the three-storey building and the incorporation of new amenities at the station, conveniently located within walking distance from the Ram Temple, incurred a cost of Rs 241 crore.
“The new station building has a footprint of 140mx32.6m. An additional front porch of 140mx12m is also provided over the drop-off zone to protect the passengers from adverse weather conditions,” stated the Northern Railway.

The new station includes separate provisions for the arrival and departure of passengers, featuring elevators, escalators, food plazas, shops catering to puja needs, cloakrooms, and child-care rooms for passenger convenience.
“We have constructed waiting halls with an aesthetic appeal on the ground floor as well as on the first floor. The station building shall be ‘accessible for all’ and has received IGBC certification for a Green Station Building,” commented Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway.

In addition, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate six new Vande Bharat Trains, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express, Coimbatore-Bangalore Cantt Vande Bharat Express, Mangalore-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, Jalna-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, and Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Vande Bharat Express.
