The summer capital, Srinagar, saw the minimum temperature drop to minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, compared to the previous night’s minus 2.8 degrees Celsius.
In Pahalgam, located in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and serving as a base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, the minimum temperature was recorded at minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than the previous night’s minus 4.1 degrees Celsius, as reported by officials.
Cold weather conditions prevail in Northwest IndiaMeanwhile, IMD has said that the mercury would plunge further in the national capital in the first week of January 2024, with temperature hovering between 10 and 7 degrees Celsius. With no relief from the bone-chilling winter, residents of Delhi-NCR experienced another morning of a cold wave on the final day of the year, waking up to a thick layer of fog blanketing the national capital and its adjoining areas.
The Safdarjung Observatory, the city’s main weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius. The dense fog engulfed the city, leading to reduced visibility in various parts. Images from Subroto Park, DND flyover, and India Gate depicted compromised vehicular movement due to the low visibility conditions.
