Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is not the first 200MP camera phone: Here are 5 smartphones that did it first1/6 Samsung has launched the Galaxy S23 series globally, India included. The lineup spawns a trio of phones headlined by the top-shelf Galaxy S23 Ultra. Being an “ultra” phone, the S23 Ultra naturally comes with powerful hardware, including Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Its 200MP camera is also a big attention grabber, but did you know that Samsung is not the only brand to launch a phone with such a high-res sensor? Here are 5 phones that beat Samsung to it. (Disclaimer: this piece isn’t accounting for the exact sensor used which is obviously different for each model, just the resolution)2/6 Motorola Edge 30 Ultra: The Edge 30 Ultra was technically the first commercial smartphone to ship with a 200MP camera. Motorola even launched it in India last year. It uses the first-generation of Samsung’s ISOCELL HP sensor, aka HP1 (the S23 Ultra uses the newer HP2). The Edge 30 Ultra is a flagship phone with high-end hardware and pricing to match. It was launched in India at Rs 59,999. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus: The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is among the most affordable smartphones in the market today using a 200MP primary camera (it’s using the HPX sensor, just so you know). The Note 12 Pro Plus was recently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 29,999. Xiaomi 12T Pro: The Xiaomi 12T Pro is also using the same 200MP HP1 sensor as the Moto Edge 30 Pro though it is only available in China at the time of writing. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Discovery: The Redmi Note 12 Discovery edition may be considered as a dialled-up Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. It has the same 200MP HPX sensor paired with a few other quirks like 210W fast charging. The phone is only available in China. Infinix Zero Ultra: The Infinix Zero Ultra is another 200MP camera phone sold in India at a price of around Rs 30,000 which pits it straight up against the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.
