The eagerly awaited Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project seeks to enhance connectivity by providing quicker access to the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport, JNPT Port, Mumbai – Pune Expressway, and Mumbai – Goa Highway. It has been officially named the ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu’ in honor of the lasting legacy of the late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the sealink on January 12, as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced earlier.
On Saturday, Eknath Shinde inspected the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link ahead of its opening. A video of the same surfaced online.

— ANI (@ANI) January 6, 2024Taking to Twitter, Shinde wrote that tha Atal Setu is now complete and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the nearly 22-kilometre-long bridge on January 12.
Skill Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha, MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, and representatives from Mumbai Municipal Corporation and MMRDA were also present as Shinde carried on his inspection.
During his inspection, Shinde covered the entire distance from Shivdi to Chirle. He also visited the control room to get an idea of how the bridge will be controlled. He also reviewed the preparations that have been made for the inauguration and gave certain instructions to officials.
How much toll will be charged at the MTHL?
The state government, under the leadership of the Eknath Shinde cabinet, has given the green light to a toll plan for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), setting the one-way toll for cars at Rs 250. According to a PTI report, this decision represents a reduction of half the prevailing toll collection rates.
According to an official statement, passenger cars will incur a one-way toll of Rs 250, with separate fees for return trips, and special arrangements for daily and frequent commuters.
