Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani recently revealed that his company is working with the IIT-Bombay to launch BharatGPT, which will rival Sam Altman’s ChatGPT. The 32-year-old Ambani scion made the statement while addressing IIT-Bombay’s Techfest.

Apart from dropping major updates on BharatGPT, Ambani also said that Jio is also looking to launch an operating system specifically designed for TVs. Talking about the importance of the AI in the near future, Ambani said that it not only means artificial intelligence, but it also stands for ‘all included.’ He said that the AI will be launched not just as a vertical but also more horizontally across all sectors. Ambani also added that AI will consume everything, and it will have far-reaching impact on all kinds of products and services.

Talking about the progress of the collaboration, Ambani said that the next decade will be all about the apps that are being developed right now with generative AI and mega language models.

Beyond BharatGPT, Jio to focus on these areas

The Jio Chairman said that apart from developing BharatGPT, the company will also focus on launch of services in areas such as commerce, devices, media space and communications.

Describing Jio as the world’s largest startup, Ambani referred to India as the “preeminent innovation hub” for the coming decade. Emphasizing his optimism, he predicted that India would achieve a $6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
