EKA Mobility to supply 1,000 e-buses to GreenCell Mobility

EKA Mobility, a leading electric vehicles & technology company has inked an MoU with GreenCell Mobility, a leading player in the electric mass mobility space.
As per the understanding, EKA Mobility will supply GreenCell Mobility with 1,000 intercity e-buses in 12-metre and 13.5-metre categories, in the coming few years.

As per the agreement, EKA Mobility will be responsible for supply, sales, and service of these buses, along with delivering quality certification reports. The associated figures illustrate the potential benefits, estimating annual fuel cost savings of Rs 70 crore and the avoidance of 120 lakh gallons of diesel, which is equivalent to growing 15 lakh trees. Furthermore, an estimated 6 lakh individuals will benefit every day from an improved and sustainable public transit infrastructure. Overall, this initiative is expected to result in a projected saving of 32,400-tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The announcement comes exactly a week after EKA Mobility announced a strategic partnership with Mitsui & Co (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands). The earlier understanding will see the partners invest around $100 million (Rs 850 crore) in phases.
Furthermore, EKA Mobility which is one of the commercial vehicle manufacturers approved under the Champion OEM Scheme & EV component manufacturing scheme of the Government of India’s Auto PLI policy is also eyeing exports to Asia, Africa and Latin America.
